Shanghai Again
Shanghai weekend trip. Glad to get out of a heavily polluted Beijing and get into a comparatively speaking, only slightly better Shanghai. Glad to be in Shanghai non the less. This view is out of Le Royal Méridien. I used to always pass by this hotel and thought of it as just an average place. Turns out it’s in a pretty awesome location and the staff gave me a good room with nicer than usual rate. The view of the park did remind me somewhat of Manhattan. Ok I know, to compare people’s park to Central park is a travesty, I’m just trying to make the most of my moment here.
The Banyan Tree is a great hotel. Wonderful facilities, automated japanese toilet, huge tub. Except the fact its in an awkward location in the middle of no where. I do think that’s about to change though. The bund is the bund.
Glen Beijing
Tucked away in a dim lit, uninviting office building somewhere around san li tun, I discovered this bar called “Glen” that does fantastic mix drinks, mostly martinis. The bottles made me wish I could drink like Draper that night.

152 days of Beijing Air
So over the weekend, I thought it’s time to change the air filters in my purifiers. Beijing, being the most polluted city I’ve ever seen, made me so conscious about my lungs that I bought 2 purifiers and 2 air washers for my 90 square meter apartment (each machine is capable of covering 50 square meters). Technically, according to the machine’s recommended date, I won’t need to change them til July, but I thought, Beijing being this dirty, I should just do it now. So ladies and gentlemen, these are my filters, old vs. new, 152 days apart. I really think Chinese government just don’t care at this point.
