Midori came in to our lives about 8 years ago, despite the girly Japanese name and its cute face, it’s a vicious dog with an uncompromising attitude. Everything has to be his way or there will be the worst sounding growl in the world. During dinner time, he would half-assedly perform tricks we taught him and asks for food, but those tricks are ALWAYS performed with destain and loathness doesn’t matter how many times we make him to do it over. Above all, Midori is stubbornly loyal, he hates not being able to be there for his masters. He would notice the sound of certain car keys clang and people changing out of their pajamas then right away either jump in mom’s purse or wait by the car. He even learned the word “come on lets go” in both mandarin and english living in our bilingual family.

Midori left us last night, in mother’s arms. He stretched out his last breath in my jacket and just like that, life faded away from his eyes. Eight years on, Midori never changed. He loved us in his own way, fiercely loyal, unassuming and persistent, and we all adored him.

You will be dearly missed Midori. We can’t thank you enough for many happy memories.
