Something old, something new

Bo Deng Hong Kong The Central

Being in HK feels surreal, its both familiar and strange. On one hand I’m able to comprehend every sign and menu in the city, while the spoken language makes feel I’m in a foreign country and I have to deal everything with English. Taxi drivers don’t stink, and their cars ALWAYS have ac turned on. Nobody spits on the street, internet no longer restricted… The list goes on, and knowing all these good things are happening, and possible in an ethnically Chinese city is mind boggling…

Why aren’t we like them? Why do mainlanders have to endure all the inconveniences, injustices and even hazardous, cancer causing elements to live? We often complain about inhabitants of this city look on mainlanders with a level of distain, but how many of us can really face up to that distain, our selves, our fellow citizens… our government?
