Short break in LA Part I

Kubrick | A Clock Work Orange

It took some debate between some family members, but ultimately I ended up spending my Spring Festival in LA. Perhaps I’ve been gone for too long, though the trip was just 10 days, I had a blast, and was truly comfortable in LA first time in a long time.

LACMA | Kubrick

The biggest highlight during this trip is the LACMA Stanley Kubrick exhibit. My first Kubrick film was in Highschool, at the time, our US history teacher was substituted by a gym teacher who also happens to be a history buff. When the subject of Vietnam War came up, class had a discussion on what film to watch. Most people voted for Hamburger Hill, simply because it’s the most action packed. But our teacher stood his ground and picked Full Metal Jacket. I’ve became a fan of Kubrick ever since.

Eyes Wide Shut

The second Kubrick film I watched was Eyes Wide Shut, with my girlfriend. We were too young to understand anything then, I suggested it because I thought the music Stanley picked for the theatrical trailer had a distinct personality.

Then enter art school, A Clock Work Orange was recommended by a school buddy.

Kubrick | 2001 A Space Odyssey

2001: A Space Odyssey was an assignment.

Kubrick | The Shining

The Shining was out a reference from an episode of Simpsons I think.

Kubrick Philosophy

That pretty much summed it up.

LACMA was pretty awesome that day, coming out of the Kubrick exhibit, I also saw this.
