LOST

I watched the first episode of LOST when I was working in Beijing, in my tiny apartment in front of a computer screen. I was captivated by the production value, after all, it was a 2hr season premiere. Then, I got drawn to all the characters, as they were portrayed in a way that only happens in a character study. It's definitely something I haven't seen before in an American TV program. I guess this series was so wildly successful because we can all relate to those characters, we're all lost but had to make necessary decisions to carry on, we're all flawed yet we strive to be better. Most importantly we find strength in each other, especially in ones that believe in you and love you.
LOST, you've been a good story, I enjoyed it very much. So long...

American TV

I'm Slowly getting back into watching tv dramas again. I only followed two dramas in China during the entire time I was there, simply because the quality isn't up to what I was used to, good writers and solid plots are rare. Now by Adam's suggestion, his reason being that I'm now in Boston, I watched John Adams, a 7 part HBO mini series about the man and his role in founding of the United States. I enjoyed it very much. The second is the much talked about Mad Men, since its about the advertising industry. I'm also scrambling to finish Heros and Prison Break in preparation for the new season starting this month. I... Love America... sniff sniff.

Struggle (奋斗)
Thanks to our AD Lucy Dong, who lent her dvds to me, I watched a complete set of Chinese TV series for the first time since I started working in China. The drama is about a group of young friends trying to make it in the real world, and their own dealings with career, friends, and relationships. I didn't really get into it in the beginning because the production value of it is so low, that sometimes it can't really convey what script asked for, not to mention some really mediocre art direction and more-often-than-I'd-like cliche wardrobe (Think pink polo shirt with collars up). Its also a bit too clever for its own good, I don't like script writers that write really long and almost impossibly complicated lines for say, a confrontation scene, most people usually can't think when they fight. Now, having said that, I did watch all 32 episodes and liked the series. Its pretty clever and most importantly, original. The series isn't on a lot of channels now but it generated a lot of buzz already amongst the young people here, especially amongst those young professionals. I also got attracted towards the characters for the qualities I admire.
The series also triggered me to do something really lame over the weekend, for some reason I ran out of the house dazed and confused in the cold, and sms-ed someone I told my self never again to... anyways, its more on the funny side than sad really, I'm ok.
Sorry, I usually post poster up along with tv shows, but, the poster is pretty shitty in this case, and doesn't do the series justice, so I'll spare you the pain this time. You can easily google them these days.

entourage

Besides getting addicted to Lost and Prison Break, I also loved this HBO original series called Entourage. Huge guest stars, cuss words and hot naked women aside, the show also has some serious clever writings and witty dialogs. It is also set in LA, and it did its best to showcase some of LA's best spots. Pinks hot dog, Koi, Arclight cinemas, they're all my favorite places.

futurama returns!

yay, the show returns! Finally, I was so sad when the show got kicked off of fox, but i can't blame them, they already have The simpsons. The show will have a new home on comedy central now.
