New Balance, and it's factory store.

I don't think I've raved about a pair of sneakers ever, but that changed when I decided to get a pair of New Balance shoes for my trip to Puerto Rico. Since I'm a camera snob, on my trips I usually walks around with 10 pounds of stuff on me, that makes my feet not too happy. I learned that the hard way last year when I was in Spain.
So this year I was determined. After 2 days of shopping in usual places, I discovered Brighton had a New Balance factory store, this made me all giddy and drove in the next day. I'm glad I did because I found the most friendly sneaker selling staff ever, sure, they give you the usual retail bull shit on the sneakers, but it's way better than not getting serviced at all, especially when you start asking for the perfect, lightweight, well cushioned, standing/walking/running, road/trail shoe.
In the end, I picked the 790, a bit tight around my ankles, but I really felt like walking on clouds. This pair of shoes saved me in San Juan, and now I will have to say, I'm a New Balance convert, and a fan of their factory store.
On a separate note to New Balance, how can you have adverting that's virtually non existent when you're trying to sell your awesome shoes no one knows about??? Please approach me for ideas.

Sox Game

Thanks to Kerry, I got to go to the Fenway to watch a Sox game finally. Saw this cute guy sitting in the back of me, he seemed oblivious to the game but liked the music and peanuts tossed around the bleachers.

Pacquiao vs De La Hoya

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, Work got crazy, and I did my best to push as much things out as possible. Now some notable things that has happened since the last post.
Now, I rarely watch boxing. In fact, I think its dumb. Especially American boxing as the boxers don't wear head protection. With this fight, its different. Oscar De La Hoya has been my favorite boxer ever since he won in Barcelona. In LA, he's a phenomenon as my Mexican buddies there are all about this guy. After I left LA, his name would keep popping up, as he kept on defending his titles and winning new ones even! in different weight class too. He's like Rocky, but for real!
That... just got shattered in just 8 rounds. Man, I have never seen a boxer that fast like Pacquiao. I actually didn't expect a lot of things. De La Hoya is bigger, his reach is further, and in boxing, I thought that says a lot. Pacquiao, this skinny philapino guy, totally dominated in all rounds, and finished fight with TKO, I guess that means something like either a knock out or referee decides there's no point of continuing the fight as the winner is clear.
It was really entertaining.

Shang Hai F1 trip: The Race.

Just got back from Shang Hai. The trip to the F1 Race was absolutely worth it. I have never heard anything this loud in my life. Watching these multi million dollar machines roar in full throttle in person conjures up an entirely new feeling within me. Like football, 90 percent of the Chinese people there cheered for the favorites, or maybe its the color red we liked so much. This video recorded some moments during the race from the Grand Stand, which includes the moment Schumacher passes Alonso on the 39th lap. Race Car noises generated so much vibration that I think my camera some how got affected during recording, you can see some flickering happening there. Something people should experience: cheering for your favorite driver in that brief 3 seconds as he passes your stand.

Fédération Internationale de Foolsball Association World Cup (Agency Cup?) held last friday.

This past friday about 20 teams from Ogilvy Beijing participated in a fools ball mini world cup. These teams services clients from around the globe. On June 9th, they gathered in Ogilvy Beijing's break room, competing for the ultimate price. Strong favorites are teams that service redbull, china mobile, and the art buyer's team. To participate in this glorious moment in agency history, two teams representing motorola have also entered the race. After 3 hours of intense wrist action, the redbull team won first. Heart breaking second was pocketed by a newly formed, energetic black sheep team - Thats right, Me (forward) and Da Sheng (rear guard). The price? The reassuring pat on the back and respect in the break room. I'm... happy ^_^

week of being an angelino

Besides watching movies, I also ran a pretty tight schedule on visiting all my favorite places to eat, such as El Taurino in downtown LA, and In n Out joints. Thanks to Roger, I also discovered Shin Sen Gumi's Ramen alternative to their popular yakitori place. The only thing left on my list, was to shoot off some big ass guns like what a typical Angelino would do, hehe. Here's a picture of me shooting skeets with James' shot gun.

My second autographed object

I've hated soccer all my life. Ever since I was little, I would complain about it every time when grown-ups watch it. The never ending back and forth without scoring, the many anti climatic attempts at the goal, ad of course, as a child, I can't understand the frustration of limiting the use of upper lim in this sport... just simply not my cup of tea. Recently, as stupid as it sounds, our fool's ball games have made me to be more appreciative about the game, the collaboration of getting just the right angles of attack, and the adrenaline after scoring a goal is truly a special feeling. Then, real assignments came in, that we're to shoot Mr. Beckham. I initially thought about profiting from this shirt, I'd be lying if I said I didn't. But somehow the righteous soccer god intervened, and I loved this gift brought back from Madrid. Thanks to Patsy, Nils, and of course, David Beckham. Oh yes, and, for those curious minds, my first autographed object is a ticket stub to Orange County's Disney Land, signed by Mikey.
