Oooh Hoo!

It's strange how a little good news can do to you these days. Lately I've been surrounded by nothing but bad news, this came in today as a pleasant surprise. It doesn't mean anything and hardly anyone will be impressed by it, I know that, but I hanging on to it, hehe

So Bestadsontv is one of my favorite industry sites, I follow them regularly eachweek, as they have guest judges from various agencies around the globe to judge works submitted.

Despite it being in the wrong category "supposed to be print" It won the "best of the week" badge, last time I had that was my MOTO cut through spot.

Hooray for getting that 14x20 pixel badge! Yay!

Lu Cong

Lu Cong has a eerily similar background as me. Born in China, came to the states at age of 11 during the late 80s. Except, this guy is like... 100 times cooler than I am now. I loved his paintings. His website is http://www.lucong.com

Chinese girls

God, this is pathetic. I don't know girls that are like that, but I certainly know girls that use their ways to manipulate guys. This however... is pretty ballsy for a girl, or, no class? Anyways, some of you girls might work and dance really hard for a shitty Lexus, but I mean, come on, a Buick Regal? Really? Thanks Eric for the link.

John Huet is a photographer based in Boston. He's been traveling to China for the past year and was in Beijing during the spectacular 2008 Olympics. He just recently came back and decided to update his website. Me, along with couple of cool kids from Mullen Boston and in W+K Shanghai were privileged with designing some of his photos. The pictures above are some of the ones I helped out with. You can view the rest of the series at http://www.johnhuet.com

"Hu Yang's extensive photographic publication "Shanghai Living" documents the living spaces of 500 families living in today's Shanghai. A selection of 100 of the images were first displayed at ShanghART Gallery and caused unforeseen public attention due to their rare and particular presentation of intimate and protected private spaces." - Design You Trust.

Really interesting piece to listen. I loved every seconds of it!

Boston Accent

Like Beijing, a BIG character of Boston, is its unique accent. For Beijing, its the "R"s or the rolling of the tongue. In Boston, its the opposite. Some people consider it a joy, some people sees it as an infliction. I personally like it, its what makes these places different. This link features an entire radio episode that discusses the accent, so if you're interested in that kind of thing, you're in for a treat.

For friends thats living outside of America.
Just check out Good Will Hunting, The Departed, and something older, Wizard of OZ. The Tin Man, When he says "Heart" He says "Hahhht" hehe, I love it.

Mr. Wang Shou Zhi

I was browsing sina.com earlier and guess what I found, Shouzhi's blog. Mr Wang Shou Zhi is the man that introduced ArtCenter to me. He's also one of the two highly respected chinese teachers in ArtCenter. Because of his "Masters in Architecture" class I now could some what show off my knowledge in Mies-ism and Frank Lloyd Wright to people, and decipher between ugly buildings and beautiful buildings, something Chinese architects really needs to learn. The blog is in Chinese only though. If you see this Mr Wang, please add my blog link too :).

Here's his blog: http://blog.sina.com.cn/wangshouzhi

This is why I don't think I can hack it in Shang Hai. Out of all places, why would us, the longest continuous culture on earth do things like this?

Zune art

zune ad page.jpg

I will never buy a Zune, the navigation system is not horrendous but its messier than ipod. The thing I really dig though, is their advertising. This thing on the web is really cool, the posters, short animations has little to do with the actual product, but it has to do with interpretation of certain kind of music. I prefer this form of advertising, it is making an effort to say, yeah, we get it, we love music and all the feelings it conjures up too, not because we want you to buy this music related product. In a few days, I will post what I've done for Airbus thats similar to this. ;)
