More Halloween pictures

| | Comments (2)

group, halloween06.jpg

I officially started this trend at work this year. Its not about bringing more American hallidays to this country, but to let people here at work have a chance once a year to dress like other charcters. Thanks to Joanne's help, we pulled it off, people really enjoyed them selves.

Tiger Beer, Taste it in this life.

Pretty nice idea, not sure about the panda in the end, but its funny. Panda bear is so underated, I love to see them on tv more... Oh, right, its a beer ad, done by Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand.

I've never dressed up for Halloween in my life. But acting upon the enthusiastic response from my buddies at work, mainly from the states, (and couple of australians) I geared up.

o, and also, happy birthday Rita!

Ford Taurus, I will miss you.

robocop taurus.jpg

From cnn.com, one of the most popular ford vehicle plants is closed today, as it rolled out company's last Taurus. Like 90% of the people in the world, I also hate American cars, but I always liked the Taurus. Its unpretentious, built for family, and always more masculine than Camery and Accord. I saw automatic car windows and locks for the first time of my life when my mom bought it home after I arrived in LA back in 92'. I got my first driver's licensee in that car, met my first girl friend with it, took my first road trip... I loved that car. Of course I loved it also because it was RoboCop's Car. I still remember the angular OCP logos, Peter Weller, and the super bad robot ED-209... Those were the good days. I will miss you Ford Taurus...

At one of my good friend Mei Ling's Bday Party, I met the Tibetan girl that was in the famous movie Ke Ke Xi Li (可可西里)one of my favorite films last year. I told her I remember her because of that long poney tail of hers in the movie, she untied her hair to show me, it was real. Unbelievable. Soon a preliminary plan to travel to her home town in Gan Su next summer is arranged. ^_^ Can't wait.

This has made my day today, :D. This site is a lot more respectable than Adcritic, and they not only featured my ad, but asked for a making off story for their blog.

When we approached Johnathan Glazer for our v3i stuff, he told us this was the one he's already booked for. Well, he's done a pretty good job there. I'm also glad to have worked with Matthijs. It all worked out I suppose. Next time Mr Glazer, Next time...

Polic Advice

Police advice.jpg

Interesting card i got while applying for chinese working visa. Foreign nationals supposed to get police stations proof of residence else. After I get this card, they told me to register with another police station before i can register with them, and after 45min through beijing traffic, I got this:

ticket.jpg

A ticket, for not registering within 24hrs after arrival with a US passport, the punishment is only a "Warning". The lady at the police station insisted that this ticket was necessary for her to proceed with my paperwork, and that ticket could not be issued at her station.

I'd say save the money on making these ridiculous cards, the Chinese police should invest in some things that will REALLY help out the citizens, such as ... a fax machine.

:/

Pink Box by Joan Sinclair

pink box.jpg

From Radar Magazine Online: Joan Sinclair, a 22-year-old photographer, was working as an English teacher in Tokyo when a friend dragged her to the city's infamous Kabukicho red-light district, a neon-drenched enclave packed with 5,000 sex shops that cater to an impressively specific array of sexual fantasies and fetishes. She was hooked. Eight years later, she returned with a camera and set out to document Japan's $20 billion sex-services industry, befriending hundreds of budding sex workers and their businessman clients. The results of her project are collected in a lush, vinyl-wrapped new book, Pink Box, published this month by Abrams. It provides a vivid glimpse into a subculture rarely seen by Westerners.

Hyper Design 4, Shanghaibiennial, Shanghai.jpg
Thanks to Edison, I got to know about this art exhibition called Hyperdesign. The exibit is being held at shang hai art museaum, and I would recommend all to go.

View from Barbarosa, Shanghai.jpg
Shang Hai art museaum is situated in a pretty popular area called people's park, there's a nice cafe called Barbarosa in the middle of the park, and beyond that is Moca Shang Hai. This picture was taken as I sat in Barbarosa having lunch. I caught this conversation between an expat foreigner and a local shang hai girl, or i should say, local girl that lives in shang hai.

foreigner: ".....This is nice, so... how did you get to know these places and learn english?"
local girl: "you know, I am not ugly"
foreigner: "I'm sorry?"
local girl: " I'm not that ugly you know"
foreigner: pause.... "I don't see the connection between not ugly and being able to speak english"
local girl: "I am not that ugly! you know that?"
foreigner: "I know, of course you are not...."

I turned around trying to give her a nasty look but she was discussing with her girl friend about their gucci purse they bought.

I walked away in disgust. I didn't understand why that girl couldn't just say "o because i fuck a lot of old ugly foreigners like you, thats how I mastered your language." That could wipe off the confused look off of her date and make their time go a lot faster.

Shang Hai F1 trip: The Race.

| | Comments (0)

f1 entrance.jpg

Just got back from Shang Hai. The trip to the F1 Race was absolutely worth it. I have never heard anything this loud in my life. Watching these multi million dollar machines roar in full throttle in person conjures up an entirely new feeling within me. Like football, 90 percent of the Chinese people there cheered for the favorites, or maybe its the color red we liked so much. This video recorded some moments during the race from the Grand Stand, which includes the moment Schumacher passes Alonso on the 39th lap. Race Car noises generated so much vibration that I think my camera some how got affected during recording, you can see some flickering happening there. Something people should experience: cheering for your favorite driver in that brief 3 seconds as he passes your stand.
